SR-22
What is an SR-22
Simply stated, an SR-22 is a document that shows proof of financial responsibility. You'll need an SR-22 if the police ticket you for driving without insurance. You will be required to carry the SR-22 for a specified period of time (usually three years). Once you have carried insurance for that time period, your SR-22 status expires.
You must carry continuous insurance for the entire time that your SR-22 is required. If your policy lapses or is cancelled, your auto insurance company has to notify the state immediately and your license will be suspended.
SR-22'S may also be required for the following:
DUI or DWI or any serious moving violation
At-fault accidents while driving without insurance
Repeat traffic offenses or getting too many tickets in a short period of time
License suspension or revoked license
How we can help!
Insure-rite will work with your insurance company to ensure that the necessary SR-22 form is filed with your State's Department og Motor Vehicles (DMV). Once the SR-22 is filed, your license suspension will be lifted and you will be able to drive legally.
If you currently carry an SR-22 in one State but move to another, you must fulfill the SR-22 time period for your former state. Also, if the State you are moving to does not require an SR-22, you must still meet the requirements of the State where your SR-22 was filed.
